Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said on Wednesday if the Taliban follow 'real' Islamic Sharia in Afghanistan where rights for women, children and elderly people are specified, they can become an example for the world.
"Taliban are emerging as a reality. They must not rule Afghanistan like they did in their first term," she said.
"If they (Taliban) adopt that model, then only the countries of the world will do business with them. But if God forbid they follow the methods used by them in the nineties, it will be very difficult for Afghanistan and the rest of the world," she said.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
