Tata Power has put forward a proposal to design and construct a novel 3-circuit high-tension innovative transmission tower at a construction site of the Mumbai Metro for a total cost of Rs 1 crore.

The tower will expedite the clearance of obstructing transmission lines over the rail network of the Mumbai Metro between the areas of Amar Mahal, Ghatkopar and Vikhroli. It will also carry a 220 kV power line overhead.

This tower will be advantageous to the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) as it will result in a total cost reduction of Rs 30 crore per circuit on the infrastructure development front.

Apparently, the primary objective behind this tower design is to lay down a section of this proposed network of Mumbai Metro beneath the already existent EHV transmission lines of Tata Power.

The company’s project team conducted a detailed analysis to zero down upon an innovative design of 3-circuit.

Sanjay Banga, President of the Transmission and Distribution at Tata Power told the PTI, “These towers will be a testament of our reliable and advanced solutions to support development of advance transport infrastructure in the Mumbai city.”
