Tata Sky, Dish TV, D2H’s Long Term Plans Under Jeopardy As Delhi HC Stays TRAI Directive Approving Them

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday (15 May) passed an order staying the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) directive which gave permission to DTH operators like Tata Sky, Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV and Videocon D2H to continue their long term packs for customers in the new tarif regime, reports Telecom Talk.
The Delhi High Court also instructed the DTH operators from migrating any more Long Duration Pack (LDP) customers to the new tariff regime.
The order was given by the Division Bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V Kameswar Rao, of the Delhi High Court, in response to an application from Tata Sky which challenged the 1 May directive by TRAI. Tata Sky had claimed that this policy is in contravention to the the tariff policy.
The application by Tata Sky read as follows, “The Trai now by way of the Direction dated 1 May is attempting to once again upset this position and arbitrarily reverse provision of services to subscribers as per the old Agreements which are in existence anymore”.
