Hyderabad Metro (L&T HMRL)
As part of the project’s second phase, the Telangana government yesterday (15 March) allocated Rs 400 crore as “grants-in-aid” for the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) to be extended to the Hyderabad International Airport in Shamshabad, reports The Hindu. This is additional to an allocation of Rs 200 crore in the first phase of the project.
The second phase of HMR is expected to cost Rs 14,000 crore which would be borne by both the state and the Centre. Connecting Shamshabad airport to Biodiversity junction in Gachibowli is among the lines proposed.
An additional allocation of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned towards the development of the city’s suburban railway network – the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS). The Outer Ring Road project will receive Rs 235 crore.
Apart from transport Rs 375 crore has been allocated as part of the Musi Riverfront Development Project while the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has been given Rs 750 crore.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
