Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali has tested positive for COVID-19.

He was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad on Sunday night (28 June). Health officials described his condition as stable.

Ali had participated in Haritha Haram, a plantation programme at the Goshamahal Police Stadium, with top police officials on 25 June. The top officials at the event included Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, Additional CP (Traffic) Anil Kumar.

According to a The Hindu report, his swab samples were taken for testing three days ago after he began to show symptoms for COVID-19. The results came positive yesterday evening.

However, the Minister, as per the report, continued to take part in many state programmes until Friday, including the Haritha Haram event.

He is the first minister to be found infected by Coronavirus in the state.

So far three members of State Legislative Assembly, all belonging to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), have tested positive.
