Indian Army In Kashmir.
Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists who were surrounded by security forces in a counter-terrorism operation in Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday (22 March) killed a 12 year-old-boy, Atif Mir, who they had taken as a hostage, reports The Indian Express. The two terrorists were then themselves killed in the ensuing gun battle with security forces.
The boy’s uncle had also been taken hostage along with him, but was rescued on Thursday (21 March). Despite the family’s pleas on loudspeakers to the terrorists to release the boy, he was not allowed to leave the house by the terrorists.
Mir and his uncle had gotten trapped in the house with the terrorists after the security forces cordoned off the area in Hajin village and the former refused to let them go.
The information about how the whole situation concluded and the death of one hostage was shared by a spokesperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Police. “He (Atif) was brutally killed by the terrorists and could not be rescued from their clutches. Two militants were killed in the encounter,” he said.
