Addressing a public meeting of booth-level workers of the BJP in Odisha, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath slammed the policy of appeasement under previous Congress governments, stating that it was the cause of the menace of terrorism faced by the country, reports The Hindu.

“Earlier, in the Congress-led government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had sown the seed of appeasement by linking religion with the country’s resources. Terrorism is an outcome of the Congress’s appeasement policy. As long as the policy of appeasement continues, the country will not overcome the crisis,” he stated while addressing party workers in Bhawanipatna, Odisha.

He asserted that once Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over the reins of government, he never linked his work with any specific caste, religion or creed, instead promising to work for the poor, farmers, youth, women and all other sections of society.

He also praised the work of security forces at the border in Kashmir, highlighting a recent statement by the army that anyone picking up arms would be neutralised.

Adityanath claimed that only the Modi government was capable of giving an appropriate response to terrorism sponsored by Pakistan.

“It was earlier said in Kashmir that retaliatory firing begins only when terrorists opened fire first. When the BJP came to power, it was made clear that if anyone tried to endanger people’s security and the country’s sovereignty, they should be taught a lesson in their own language,” he remarked.
