Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma led Assam government has decided that those who have already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer have to undergo testing at airports and railway stations upon production of the inoculation certificate, reports Economic Times.

CM Sarma has also instructed the administration to not release the monthly remuneration of the Anganwadi workers who do not take COVID-19 vaccines. He has stressed that Anganwadi workers directly deal with the most vulnerable sections of society and that it is very important that each one of them gets vaccinated at the earliest.

Other than these decisions, CM Sarma also reviewed the COVID-19 situation and vaccination status in the State through a video conference with the Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Superintendents of Police (SPs) and district health officials.

Following a detailed review, CM Sarma directed the DCs to strictly enforce the guidelines issued in respect of micro-containment zones in areas where positivity rates are very high. He also asked the DCs to ensure strict compliance of social distance norms at vaccination camps to stop the further spread of COVID-19, apart from 100 per cent vaccination coverage of all frontline workers.
