Those Violating COVID-19 Norms To Be Fined Rs 1,000 At Mumbai's International Airport

To ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 safety norms and practices like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has announced that it would levy a fine of Rs 1,000 on individuals who do not comply, reports Times of India.
MIAL stressed that the face masks must cover the nose and mouth of the individuals. The decision has been taken based on the directive issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
In case of further non-compliance, the violators will thereafter be handed over to the authorities for further action.
The MIAL's decision comes after Bengaluru's Kempegowda Airport began to levy a fine of Rs 250 on violators outside the terminal, like in parking lots. The wilful violators inside the airport terminal building who refuse to wear masks despite being requested will either be denies boarding, or be evicted from the terminal.
Similarly, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has also decided to penalise the violators. It should be noted that AAI operates as many as 90 airports across the nation, including the ones in metro cities like Kolkata and Chennai.
