In an indirect attack to the Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that people have started showing their ‘Gotra’ and ‘Sacred thread’ to become popular in politics.

Taking a jibe at the ‘Janeudhari’ and ‘Shivbhakt’ credentials of Rahul Gandhi, Adityanath said that it was a victory for the Sanatana Dharma that those who claimed to be ‘accidental Hindus’ are now trying to prove that they are Hindus in a real sense.

“The people who described themselves as accidentally Hindu now realise that they are also Hindus. (They are realising) It is not accidental, and we are Hindus in the real sense. Now they are remembering their Janeu and Gotra. I think this is the victory of India’s Sanatan faith. This is the victory of our beliefs” claimed the Uttar Pradesh CM, as reported by Indian Express.

Responding to criticisms of Kumbh Mela, the BJP leader claimed that such people were trying to defame Hindu religion by falsely calling it ‘anti-Dalit’. He pointed out that same kind of politics was going around over Sabarimala issue where those who had never been to the temple were issuing statements.

He said people from all castes took part in Kumbh which was a symbol of spiritual grandeur. He said most verses in the Vedas were composed by Dalit saints and the sage who had interviewed Lord Ram was Valmiki but people from the community were discriminated against.

He added that the people who were criticising the Kumbh Mela aim to destroy the Indian culture and were conspiring against the country with the help of foreign funds.
