Three ONGC Employees Abducted By Armed Separatist Group ULFA-I In Assam

Suspected rebels of the armed separatist group United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I) kidnapped three employees of the state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) from a rig location at the Lakwa field in Charaideo district of Assam on early Wednesday morning.
Five armed individuals escorted the concerned employees in the company’s ambulance towards the Assam-Nagaland border at around 1:30 am.
ULFA-I hasn’t yet claimed responsibility for the incident but Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the chief secretary and the director-general of police (DGP) of the north-eastern state to take the necessary steps in order to rescue the victims.
“3 ONGC employees, 2 junior engineer assistants (production) & a junior technician (production) have been abducted by unknown armed miscreants,” the company revealed via its official Twitter handle.
In fact, ULFA (I) had also captured two employees from Quippo Oil based in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh last December. However, they were released by the rebels earlier this month, as reported by the Times of India.
