Senior BJP leader Sushil Modi's time may be up as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar as reports suggest that he may be replaced by two Chief Ministers Taarkeshwar Prasad and Renu Devi - similar to the two Deputy Chief Ministerial model employed by the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

Sushil Modi may reportedly head to Delhi and might attain a portfolio in Narendra Modi’s union cabinet.

A few moments earlier Modi had tweeted that, "the BJP and RSS have given me so much in my 40 year political career. I will fulfil any responsibility I get in the future, no one can seize the post of party worker from me".

Taarkeshwar Prasad who has been chosen as the legislative leader of the BJP is a third-term MLA from the Katihar assembly constituency, a seat that he has emerged victorious in both 2010 and 2015 too.

Renu Devi has been a four-time MLA from Bettiah and was previously the minister of art, culture and youth affairs in the first Nitish Kumar cabinet from 2005-10.

Her promotion to the post of the deputy CM comes after BJP secured a vast majority of women votes in the last two phases of the recently concluded assembly elections.

Modi a senior BJP leader in Bihar, served as the Deputy Chief Minster in Bihar from 2005 to 2013 and again from 2017 to 2020. He served as the leader of opposition in Bihar from 2013 to 2017 when Nitish Kumar severed ties with the BJP.

It was earlier reported that Nitish Kumar is expected to continue as the Chief Minister of Bihar as the next Chief Minister during a meeting of NDA stakeholders which is currently underway in Patna.

Nitish Kumar was also chosen as the leader of Janata Dal-United's Legislature Party in the new Bihar Assembly.
