TMC MP Nusrat Jahan Says Her Marriage With Nikhil Jain Is Invalid, Was Held As Per Turkish Marriage Regulations

Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan has said that her marriage with Kolkata businessman Nikhil Jain is invalid as it was held as per the Turkish Marriage Regulations. Jahan and Jain had married in a ceremony in Turkey back in 2019.
In her statement, Jahan has claimed that since it was an interfaith marriage, it requires validation under Special Marriage Act in India, which did not happen. She then went on to say that in the eyes of the law it is not a Marriage, but a relationship or a live-in relationship thus a question of a divorce does not arise.
"Our separation happened long back, but I did not speak about it as I intended to keep my private life to myself. Thus, my actions must not be questioned based on “separation", Jahan has said.
She has also alleged that Jain had illegally withdrawn money from her bank account by accessing her accounts at night.
This development comes after media outlets reached out to Jain following rumours of Jahan's pregnancy, who said that they have not been in touch for months.
