Trump Or Not, US Companies ‘Hire In India’: The Number Of MNC Employees Up By 15.4 Per Cent In One Year

The number of multi-national companies (MNCs) with engineering and R&D centres in India has increased from 943 in 2016 to 976 in 2017, Times of India has reported. The number is likely to increase further to 1,005 in the current year according to Zinnov (a consulting firm).
In a sneer to Trump’s America First, close to 60 per cent of these firms are from the United States of America (USA).
The number of employees in these ‘Global In-house Centres’ (GIC) has increased from 343,000 in the year 2016 to 396,000 in the year 2017, an increase of 15.4 per cent. The number is expected to increase to 435,000 this year. This will be a 10 per cent growth compared to the last year.
The number of South East Asian companies opening GICs in India has also gone up. Go-Jek from Indonesia, one of the prominent South-East Asian companies, has a significant presence in India.
The money invested by the MNCs in creating the infrastructure and employment generation is expected to increase to $17 billion in 2018 from $15 billion in 2017. The figure was $13 billion in the year 2015.
