US President Donald Trump has blasted former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey for leaking a copy of his memo about a meeting with the president and speculated his leaks could be bigger than people anticipate.
Trump had earlier said that he is “100 percent” willing to testify under oath about his conversations with the former FBI director. He denied asking Comey for his loyalty, though, adding, "There would be nothing wrong if I did say it.”
The President also denied Comey's claims that he asked him to end FBI's investigation into national security advisor Michael Flynn. Trump also twice declined to confirm the existence of White House recordings of the conversations.
Trump’s lawyer Marc Kasowitz has indicated he will file a complaint about Comey to the Justice Department, which oversees the FBI. In his testimony on Thursday, Comey painted Trump as untrustworthy and admitted he asked a “friend,” identified as a Columbia University law professor, to release a memo of his conversations with the president to the press. The testimony saw Comey claiming that Trump had directed him to drop probe against Flynn.
