A Bihar court on 8 January (Tuesday) ordered lodging of an FIR against Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna and 13 others concerning their association with the upcoming film, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, reports Tribune India.

Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (West) Shaba Alam’s court in Muzzafarpur ordered the Kanti police station to probe the charges on Kher, Khanna and others.

“Manmohan Singh is best known for laying the foundation of a modern India with his economic policies when he was the Finance Minister. But the movie appears to be a clear attempt to tarnish his image,” said complainant Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha.

Furthermore, a petition was filed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) in Chandigarh demanding a stay on the release of the movie. The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Krishna Murari, counsel Kannan Malik sought a hearing on this matter for his petitioner Anumit Singh Sodhi (son of Congress MLA from Guru Harsahai Rana Gurmit) and posted the case for 9 January (Wednesday) as reported by Tribune India.

It was claimed by the petitioner that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has made no-objection certificates mandatory for biopics and alleged that the movie is a ‘political propaganda’ before the General Elections.
