Micro-blogging site Twitter is considering introducing a feature that would allow users to clarify their bad tweets, Mashable reports. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was at the Goldman Sachs’ Internet and Technology Conference in San Francisco on Thursday (14 February) when he said the company was considering a “clarification” feature.

The feature aims at making people feel more comfortable about what they tweet as they would allow users to include additional context from their previous tweets. "One of the concepts we're thinking about is clarifications," he said while adding that the feature could work on similar lines to a quote tweet.

"Kind of like retweet with comment.. to add some context and some colour on what they might have tweeted, or what they might have meant," Dorsey says while adding that users often use the quote tweet option to do it, but the tweet would not always have the same reach. However, if users opt to “clarify, the original tweet would appear with the subsequent clarification.

Dorsey also said the company is just thinking about the feature, and it is not necessary that they would launch it. "If we can figure that out then we take an excuse off the table of people saying, 'I don't want this massive history,' he said.
