Two Indians Beheaded In Saudi Arabia Over Murder Charge Without Informing Indian Embassy

Two Indians working in Saudi Arabia were beheaded On 28 February in Saudi Arabia on charges of murdering a fellow Indian. The two named Satwinder Kumar and Karjeet Singh hailed from Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana respectively.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh had not been informed of the executions, reports Times of India.
Kumar and Singh allegedly killed another Indian named Arif Imamuddin over a dispute about distribution of money which they had looted together. They had been arrested a few days later on 9 December 2015 while drinking and fighting over which they were to be deported back. However, before the formalities could have been completed, they were found linked to the murder.
The letter, signed by Prakash Chand, director (consular), added that embassy officials used to visit the jail to know about the status of their trial. “But, both were executed on February 28, 2019 without informing the embassy. Several communications were made to the ministry of foreign affairs, Saudi Arabia, to get the mortal remains but Saudi Arabia, to get the mortal remains but Saudi system does not permit handing over the bodies of those executed to the embassy,” the letter said.
