Uddhav Thackeray Takes Oath As Maharashtra CM; Will Lead Maha Vikas Aghadi Government

Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray Thursday (28 November) was sworn-in as Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park to lead the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state.
State’s Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office and secrecy to 59-year-old Sena chief as he became the first CM from Thackeray family. He is going to head a three-party coalition government comprising the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Congress.
In an unusual gesture, soon after completing the formalities, Uddhav Thackeray stepped to the front of the stage and knelt down, touched his hands and head on the floor to express his gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for the honour bestowed on him.
While Shiv Sena leaders Eknath Shinde and Subhash Desai took oath as ministers in Thackeray’s cabinet, from the NCP, Jayant Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal were inducted in the government.
Two Congress leaders - Balasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut - were also sworn-in as state’s ministers.
