The Union Cabinet on Wednesday (21 October) approved productivity linked bonus and non-productivity bonus for the financial year 2019-20 for over 30 lakh non-gazetted employees.
"The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval to pay Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for the year 2019-2020 to 16.97 lakh non-gazetted employees of commercial establishments like Railways, Posts, Defence, EPFO,ESIC,etc. will be benefitted and the financial implication would be Rs 2,791 crore," an official release said.
"Non-PLB or ad-hoc Bonus is given to non-gazetted Central government employees. 13.70 lakh employees would be benefited and Rs 946 crore will be the financial implication for the same," the release added.
This comes as a reason to cheer for the government employees ahead of the festive season.
Earlier on 12 October, the Finance Minister announced a number of measures to induce government employees to spend in the upcoming festive season, including a 'LTC Cash Voucher Scheme' and a 'Special Festival Advance Scheme'.
