Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Launches ‘Tech-Saksham’ Project To Enable Technology Adoption Among MSMEs

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has embarked on a unique three-year-long project ‘Tech-Saksham’ in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) under which it will enable and encourage adoption of technology by Indian MSMEs to make them more productive and competitive against their global and regional peers, reports Financial Express.
Under the programme, launched by Minister for MSME Nitin Gadkari, CII and the ministry will organise 10-12 workshops, starting October 2019, in cities with industrial clusters. Pikender Pal Singh, senior director and head CII-Centre of Excellence for Competitiveness for SMEs, said that the initiative is likely to impact around 10,000 MSMEs.
In the first phase of the initiative, the focus will be on MSMEs from sectors which are labour-intensive and have the highest likelihood to respond positively to the tech-adoption.
“We are also launching a technology portal that will have e-learning modules, which we are conceptualising, about technology through which we want to reach out around 5 lakh MSMEs across India,” added Singh.
