Unnao Rape: BJP Expels Accused MLA; SC Transfers Cases To Delhi, Orders CBI To Complete Investigation In 15 Days

The Supreme Court has transferred the four cases relating to Unnao rape case in which former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar is accused to Delhi, reports Times of India. The court has also asked the trial court to complete proceedings in 45 days.

The apex court asked CBI to complete the probe into the recent truck accident injuring the victim and her family members within 15 days, and preferably, seven days. The accident took lives of two aunts of the victim while she and her lawyer were critically injured. The court also asked the victim if she wanted to be shifted to a hospital in New Delhi.

Expanding the scope of its suo motu registered PIL on steps to curb child rape cases, the court will include witness protection and victim compensation.


The three guards- Suresh, Ruby, and Sunita appointed for 24X7 security of the victim were suspended for not being present on the day of the accident. The guards were served a show cause notice to which they failed to reply, Unnao SP MP Verma told TOI.

Meanwhile, the already suspended BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was expelled from the party in the morning.
