As the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is nearing its 1 year in power, former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has asserted that the “unnatural” alliance will not last long in the state, ANI reports. The BJP leader has said that such governments do not last for four-five years and the Uddhav Thackarey-led dispensation is nearing the completion of its first year in office.

Addressing reporters in Pune, Fadnavis said, “Not waiting for the government to fall, ready to work as an effective Opposition. But this unnatural government cannot last long. Historically, such governments never lasted four-five years. They should run the government as long as they want. The day it falls, we will give an alternative government.”

The conjecture of BJP regaining power in Maharashtra has gained traction in recent times. Union Minister and MP from Jalna Raosaheb Danve had stated recently that a BJP-led government will be instated in the state in the next two-three months.

Last time around, the BJP leader had sworn into office along with Ajit Pawar in the early hours of November 23, 2019 for a government that lasted for approximately 80 hours. On November 24, Fadnavis had expressed that the saffron party’s next government will take oath at a suitable timing unlike the previous time.

Moreover, taking shots at the year-long performance of the current administration, the former CM remarked, “The government will complete one year now but we cannot see any achievement so far. In the one year of its rule, it made several promises but failed to keep any of them. The announced relief amount was not given to farmers affected by the flood.”
