The Shiv Sena will be fielding candidates in all 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) assembly elections scheduled to be held in early-2022.

The party has not officially tied up with any political outfit for the polls yet. However, it apparently is open to consider setting up an alliance for the concerned state elections.

In fact, the party’s leaders from UP held a meeting in Lucknow on Saturday has thus opted to contest from all of the 403 assembly constituencies in the northern state.

Sources quoted in a report by the Economic Times said that the Shiv Sena could possibly ally with the Congress in UP as the two parties along with the NCP are already leading a coalition government in Maharashtra.

Thakur Anil Singh, Shiv Sena’s chief of UP, told the publication, “The party leadership deliberated on several issues, ranging from the education system and healthcare sector to Covid pandemic and farmer issues.”

He even alleged that ‘jungle raaj’ prevails in the government of incumbent CM Yogi Adityanath in the state and also raised concerns over the law and order situation in UP.
