UP Govt Brings Back First Batch Of 2,224 Stranded Migrants; Committee Formed To Create 15 Lakh Jobs Post Lockdown

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government led by Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath has become the first administration in the nation to begin bringing back the stranded migrant and daily wage labourers to their home State, reports Times of India.
In the first batch, the state government has brought back 2,224 such labourers from Haryana on Saturday (25 April). The UP government had sent 82 buses to bring back these migrants who belong to 16 districts of the State. They have been placed under quarantine, and after 14 days of the same, these individuals will be provided with a ration kit, Rs 1,000 and sent to their homes where they would remain under quarantine for another 14 days.
It should be noted that the state government has already formed a committee to chart out a plan to immediate create at least 15 lakh jobs in rural areas of the State to meet the rush of 5-10 lakh persons who are expected to return home in the course of next two months.
The State Government is aiming to push and expedite MGNREGA projects in the rural parts of UP. Already, 44,478 such projects in 18,823 Gram Panchayats of UP are providing employment to 4,23,231 individuals.
