UP Police Recovers Hundreds Of Stolen Books From Azam Khan’s University, Takes His Son Into Custody

Senior SP leader Azam Khan’s son was taken into custody by the Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday (31 July) on charges of preventing them from doing their duty.
The police was carrying out a raid at Azam Khan’s Mohammad Ali Jauhar University where it also allegedly recovered 100 expensive books stolen from other institutions, IANS has reported.
The search led by Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma and members of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) lasted for over three hours during which Azam Khan’s son - Abdullah Azam tried to prevent the police team from searching the library. This led to him being taken into police custody.
The raid is said to have been a result of a police complaint which alleged theft of books from Madrasa Aliya and other institutions in Rampur.
An India Today report though pegged the total number of stolen books at 400-500 which contained the stamp of the 250 year old madrasa.
Azam Khan’s son is also undergoing investigation over accusations of furnishing wrong details in his passport application.
