Car of the Japan's Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu, was towed away by traffic officials in Lucknow as the diplomat was in the state to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Times of India (TOI) has reported.

Additional superintendent of police Habibul Hasan told that traffic cops towed away a white SUV with the numberplate UP 32 GN 4912 from Gate Number 2 of the Vidhan Bhawan Annexe as the ambassador went inside to meet Adityanath.

Traffic cops took it to Hazratganj Kasmanda House to issue a 'challan' of wrong parking. However, on realising that the car belonged to the Japanese Ambassador, no challan was issued and the vehicle was released, Hasan was quoted by TOI. Officials reportedly lent Hiramatsu a car for his return trip.
