UP Preparing Skillset Data Of Migrant Workers Returning To State: Yogi Says Will Give Employment Locally

Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath on Thursday (7 May) directed officials to act upon providing employment in accordance with the skills to all the migrant workers returning to the state amid COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report in Dainik Jagran, the CM after holding a meeting with state officials said the government is preparing a data of all the returnees based on their skills. The state administration is collecting details such as name, address, contact number of all the migrants who are now returning to UP due to the coronavirus crisis, CM Yogi said as per the report.
While assuring that once their quarantine period is over, all the migrant workers will be given employment at local levels at par with their skills, he said the government would utilise their skills to revive state’s economy post COVID-19 pandemic.
CM Yogi has also asked various state governments to provide a list of migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh in their state so that arrangements could be made for their return. The CM said safe return of all the migrant workers hailing from UP, who want to return, was his government’s priority.
According to the government spokesman, over seven lakh migrants have returned to the state and the government wants to bring back all those who wish to return.
The Chief Minister said that 37 trains, bringing back about 30,000 migrant workers, had already reached Uttar Pradesh and 20 more are expected on Thursday.
"If the other state governments provide us a list of those wanting to return, we will make arrangements accordingly," the chief minister said.
The Chief Minister has stated that the government will make arrangements for medical screening of every migrant worker, his stay in quarantine and then ensuring his journey to his home.
Nearly 50,000 medical staff is screening the workers who are coming in.
Every worker will be given a ration kit and a sum of Rs 1,000 before he returns home.
