The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government has decided to keep its borders with Delhi along Noida and Ghaziabad sealed, fearing a spike in COVID-19 cases, reports India Today.

The decision by Noida's administration comes at a time when a report submitted by the Gautam Buddh Nagar Health Department had revealed on Sunday (31 May) that 42 per cent of the new confirmed cases of COVID-19 discovered in the city over the last 20 days had been traced to Delhi.

It should be noted that Delhi has emerged as one of the worst hit regions by COVID-19 pandemic in the entire nation. It has witnessed more than 18,000 confirmed cases so far, while the tally in Noida and Ghaziabad has been restricted to less than 600 cases combined.

The Government officials have said that the de-sealing of the borders with Delhi will be taken up only after the daily curve of new cases flattens in Delhi.
