UPSC aspirants appearing for exam (Yogendra Kumar/Hindustan Times)
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued a notice asking candidates to use the name in the application form for Civil Services Prelims 2019 as mentioned in their school leaving board examination certificate.
Adding that the candidates have to upload a scanned copy of their photo-identity card, the notice says the name as mentioned in the application form will be printed on the e-admit card.
Therefore, the candidates with changed names must posses at least one government-issued photo identity card with the new name along with the official Gazette notification. They are also required to sign an undertaking at the time of the examination.
As per the notice issued on its official website [PDF], the candidates who wish to avail the benefits of 10 per cent EWS quota, need to get their EWS certificate ready before 1 August 2019. In order to reportedly accommodate the EWS quota, UPSC has earlier announced an additional 100 vacancies.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
