UPSC Civil Services: Maharashtra Government To Provide Free Coaching, Stipend To Maratha, Kunbi IAS Aspirants

The Maharashta government would provide free coaching for UPSC Civil Services 2020 exam aspirants belonging to the Maratha and Kunbi communities, Lokmat has reported.

This decision has reportedly been taken to help the community’s aspirants improve their Civil Services rank. The aspirants also need to have an annual income of less that Rs 8 lakh to be eligible for the scheme. 30 per cent of the seats would be reserved for women and 3 per cent for the specially abled.

Apart from getting free coaching, the aspirants can also get stipends from Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research, Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI) to prepare for the exam.

A total of 225 such aspirants would be shortlisted for the free coaching and they would also receive a stipend of Rs 13,000. In order to enrol into the program, the aspirants need to sit for an entrance test which would be held on 31 March.

The coaching would take place at a Delhi based institute and the government would also pay a one-time relocation cost of Rs 15,000 to the students.

A similar step has also been taken by the governments of Manipur and Odisha.

It was reported that the Manipur government would offer scholarship worth Rs 1 crore to meet the coaching needs of the IAS aspirants. The Odisha government too has tied up with institutes to provide coaching at a subsidised rate.
