UPSC aspirants appearing for exam (Yogendra Kumar/Hindustan Times)
The Economic Quota bill passed by the Parliament on Wednesday (9 January) may turn out to be a boon for IAS aspirants belonging to the General category, Financial Express reports.
As per the report, this quota would mean that General category candidates eligible for the economic quota may also get relaxation in the age limit and total possible attempts for government jobs including the prestigious civil services.
The report claims that under the new quota the government may also apply the rules applicable to other backward classes. For example, under UPSC the General age limit stands at 32 years while for OBCs it is 35. In case of SC/ST Candidates the limit is 37 years.
The Modi government may bring in a bill addressing this aspect on a later date, claims the report while quoting a BJP leader.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
