After United States President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Friday (2 October), US Congresswoman from Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard was one of the first politicians from Democratic camp to wish speedy recovery to the President and the first lady.

"My husband Abraham and I offer our best wishes and aloha to President Donald Trump and the First Lady Melania Trump and praying for their speedy recovery," the Hindu Congresswoman said.

"We also send our best wishes to Ivanka, Tiffany, Donald Trump Jr., Eric, and Barron during this difficult time," she added.

The move by the Hindu Congresswoman came amid widening ideological rift between Republican and Democratic parties, and increasing influence of far-left Democrats in the party as the Presidential elections near.

It should be noted that after Trump was diagnosed with Covid-19, many people including celebrities responded with a mixed bag of outrage, sarcasm and speculation. Many Twitter users also wished death upon the US President prompting the micro-blogging platform to issue a statement saying that it will suspend the users doing so.

Left-leaning MSNBC news channel's host Joy Reid went on to suggest that Trump was faking COVID diagnosis to 'get out of the debates'.

In the backdrop of all the hate Trump received after his Covid diagnosis, Twitter users hailed Tulsi's warm wishes to the US President despite her ideological differences with him and said that it was a "class act" from the Hawaiian Congresswoman.

"This is how you are supposed to react when someone gets an illness. Thank you congresswoman for showing the country there is still some decency on the left," said a Twitter user.

"A true class act, even for a Democrat," said another Twitter user.

Some netizens also went on to suggest that Tulsi should have been the Democratic Presidential nominee instead of Joe Biden.
