US President Donald Trump may be a surprise guest at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega Houston rally on 22 September, various media reports have claimed.
This report though is yet to be confirmed by either the Ministry of External Affairs or Texas India Forum (TIF) - the organisers of this event. The event will also be attended by other US lawmakers.
Prime Minister Modi’s Houston rally named “Howdy Modi” is sold out with over 50,000 already registering for the program. All subsequent registrations have been kept on the waiting list.
The event thus is said to be the largest ever for any foreign leader in the US, with the exception of Pope Francis.
Reports have claimed that Indian authorities have been exploring the opportunity getting Trump to attend the Houston event soon after the G-20 summit. Prime Minister Modi and Trump are also likely to announce a trade deal in the city.
