In honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the United States (US), a restaurant in New Jersey has put together a special 'thali', according to news agency ANI.

The 'Modi ji thali', curated by chef Shripad Kulkarni, is a mix of various Indian delicacies, including khichdi, rasgulla, sarson ka saag, Kashmiri dum aloo, idli, dhokla, chaach, and papad.

Chef Kulkarni revealed that the dishes were added to the 'Modi ji thali' keeping in mind the preferences of the Indian diaspora living in the area.

Each dish has been carefully crafted to cater to the tastebuds of the Indian community residing in New Jersey.

ANI shared a video where Kulkarni can be seen presenting a colourful ‘thali’ and sharing details about the special offering.

Reportedly, the restaurant owner also intends to launch another thali soon, which will be dedicated to External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.

Kulkarni believes that the Indian American community views Dr Jaishankar very much like a rockstar.

The colourful ‘thali’ is also a tribute to the United Nations' recognition of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, as recommended by the Indian government in 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to become the first Indian PM to address the joint meeting of the US Congress for the second time, during his first state visit to the US. He will be hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for a dinner on 22 June.

The Indian-American community is gearing up to show their support for PM Modi by organising an 'India Unity Day' march in 20 major cities across America on 18 June.

Several notable Indian Americans will be gathering on the north lawns of the UN complex in New York on 21 June to join PM Modi in the celebration of International Yoga Day.

The Prime Minister will be leading the event and is expected to deliver a speech as well.

The next day, over 7,000 Indian Americans will congregate at the South Lawns of the White House for what promises to be a momentous occasion.

An elaborate welcoming ceremony awaits PM Modi, who will be greeted by the US President and First Lady amid a 21-gun salute.
