The United States on Thursday (21 November) reportedly said that it supports India’s continued role in development of Afghanistan, reports Times Of India.
India has been at the forefront of Afghanistan development, contributing more than $3 billion since the 2001 US-led invasion toppled the Taliban.
"The United States welcomes India's substantial investment in and assistance to Afghanistan," said Nancy Izzo Jackson, a State Department official in charge of Afghanistan.
"And we will continue to support efforts to achieve an honorable and enduring outcome in Afghanistan that preserves our investment in Afghanistan's future," she told a conference on India's role in Afghanistan at the Hudson Institute.
India has constructed the new Parliament building, trained police personnel and has also wooed Afghans with its soft power, including Bollywood people.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
