The United States consulate is undertaking a plan to reduce visa application processing time for Indian applicants, as well as exempt certain classes of applicants belonging to the country from the mandatory interview requirement, reports The Economic Times.
The proposals were revealed in a communication sent out by the Consulate to travel agent associations; the plan is to decrease turnaround times as well as better the customer service support for Indian applicants.
The initiative to make the visa application process less cumbersome for Indian applicants may be seen as an attempt by the US to present itself as a more attractive destination for travelers from the country. The country has seen a substantial decline in its share of the global long-haul travel market in recent years.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
