Amid the ongoing stand-off between the Indian and Chinese armies in Eastern Ladakh, experts have advised the Narendra Modi led Central government to use the Indian Navy to counter China, India Today has reported.

Experts advising the Indian government have been quoted in the report as saying that, "it is the Indian Navy which is truly poised to pile the pressure on China".

China is very dependant on using the Indian Ocean's shipping lanes to transport goods to and from Middle East and Europe. With Indian Ocean being India's home turf, the national security advisory board and think tanks are suggesting five broad points of action to the government. These are:

  1. Threaten Chinese shipping in the Indian Ocean

  • Aggressively impose sea denial in the Indian Ocean

  • Deploy and project power in the Western Pacific

  • Change India's neutral status on the South China Sea

  • Continue to upgrade ties with Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia

  • The report also adds that various former Indian Navy chiefs have also advocated that India use the naval option to mount pressure on China.
