Adani Group and IRB Infrastructure will build Uttar Pradesh's 594-km long Ganga Expressway between Meerut and Prayagraj.
The Rs 36,230 crore greenfield expressway project is divided into four sections, with Adani Group winning the contract for three and one by IRB Infrastructure.
IRB Infra will carry out the works of 129.7 km long section-1 at the cost of Rs 5,039 crore. Adani Group will execute the remaining three sections at the cost of Rs 5,647 crore, Rs 5,810 crore and Rs 5,626 crore, reports The Times of India.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the state government body that will execute the project, around 94 per cent of the land needed for the Ganga Expressway has already been acquired.
The six-lane wide (expandable to eight lanes) greenfield expressway will pass through 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh, namely (from west to east) Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahar, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj.
The proposed expressway will cover 140 water bodies. It will have seven road-over-bridges, 17 interchange roads, 14 big bridges, 126 minor bridges, 28 flyovers, 50 vehicle underpass, 171 light vehicle underpass, 160 small vehicles underpass and 946 culverts.
