Uttar Pradesh: Adani, Power Grid Corp Win Bid To Transmit Electricity From Obra, Jawaharpur Plants

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved Adani Transmission and Power Grid Corporation for setting up of networks for transmission of power from Obra and Jawaharpur thermal power projects, Financial Express has reported. The two projects were given through a competitive bidding process and companies will bring in Rs 1,401 crore of investment.

Both Obra-C project and Jawaharpur project has two 660 MW production plants. The transmission project involves building, owning, operation and maintenance in the state. Adani transmission will invest Rs 871 crore in the Obra-C project, and Power Grid Corporation of India will invest Rs 530 crore.

Two small 400 Kv sub-stations are also under construction. One 400 KV sub-station will be set up in Badauri under the Obra-C project and one in Firozabad under Jawaharpur.

Uttar Pradesh Rajya Utpadan Nigam develops both the projects. Obra and Jawahurpur is expected in April 2021 and the second units in August 2021. As per sources in the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, there will be a reduction of 37 per cent in tariff cost in Obra-C and 36 per cent in Jawaharpur.
