Uttar Pradesh: Revenues Under Six Key Heads Rise By 24 Per Cent To Rs 1.2 Lakh Crore Under Yogi Govt

Data for 2018-19 shows that the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has seen the state’s revenues in key areas rise by an impressive 24 per cent compared to the last financial year under the previous government of Akhilesh Yadav, The Economic Times reports.
The greatest increase has come in revenues from mining, which seen earnings go from just Rs 1,552 crore in 2016-17 to Rs 3,165 crore in 2018-19. It is believed that a more transparent government policy regarding mining allocation has helped boost these revenues.
The other five categories with have seen major increases are excise, commercial tax, transport, GST and VAT, and registration. Total revenues for all six categories combined have gone up to Rs 1.2 lakh crore in 2018-19, up from Rs 86,000 crore in 2016-17.
Rs 24,000 crore was collected under the excise head, a rise of 38 per cent compared to the Rs 14,273 crore figure for 2016-17.
The state has also emerged at the forefront of delivering the benefits of central schemes like Ujjwala Yojana and Awas Yojana to the public. Moreover, payments of sugarcane dues to farmers have also risen to an all time high.
