Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Govt To Impose Rs 1,000 Fine For Spitting Or Littering On Roads

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh plans to impose a fine of Rs 1,000 on people who were caught spitting or littering on road, reports TimesNow.

The state government has proposed to bring in Uttar Pradesh solid waste (Management, functioning and cleaning) guidelines 2021 for this purpose.

Currently, the government has launched various schemes in urban areas for their cleanliness like door-to-door facilities to collect garbage, separate bins to dump dry and wet waste.

According to the proposed rules, a gathering of more than 100 people will face hefty fines if they don't get the place cleaned. The fine collected will be based on the size of the place and the amount of garbage produced.

The government also plans to impose fines on vendors for dumping garbage on the road and mandates them to keep boxes for disposing of waste which must be handed over to municipal waste collection vehicles.

The Yogi government is taking numerous steps to combat pollution and enhance the quality of the environment.

To wean away the farmers from the practice of stubble burning and to double the farm incomes, the government has set up its first bio-coal production unit in Risia of Bahraich district which has successfully completed the trial-run of manufacturing fuel briquette pellets from agricultural waste.

Also, the state proposes to set up a 'center of excellence' in the near future for research and development, testing and certification to help the electric vehicles industry.
