A unique first of its kind Muslim yoga camp began yesterday (20 November) at Uttarakhand’s Kotdwar town, with some 500 Muslim men and women belonging to a number of different nations joining the event, reports PTI.
The event is taking place over a five-day period, and on the first day, while inaugurating it, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat outlined the health benefits associated with practising Yoga.
"Yoga elevates our heart, mind and thoughts to such a level that we begin to care for all. It leads us towards universal welfare," he said.
AYUSH Minister Harak Singh Rawat lauded the work done by the event’s organisers, and remarked that the event would communicate a healthy message for the whole world.
Commenting on the historical and spiritual significance of the Kanva Ashram where the event is being held, the chief minister also revealed that the government plans to rename Kotdwar as Kanva Nagri Kotdwar.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
