Uttarakhand: Portals Of Shri Badrinath Temple Open, First Pooja Performed On Behalf Of PM Modi

Amid the ongoing lockdown across the country, the portals of the holy Himalayan shrine of Shri Badrinath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district has been opened on Friday (15 May).
The portals of the temple were opened at 4.30 am by chief priest Rawal Ishwari Prasad Nambudiri with all the religious rituals and reciting of Vedic mantras in the presence of a limited number of shrine board officials.
Only 28 people Including the chief priest were present at the temples during the opening of the portals.
According to a News18 report, after the opening of the portals, the first pooja was performed on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The temple was decorated with more than 10 quintals of flowers ahead of the opening of the portals.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj congratulated the devotees on the occasion.
Shri Badrinath temple is the last of the Chardham, which also includes Shri Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri temples, to be opened this year. Earlier, the temple was scheduled to be opened on 30 April, but due to the Coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown, the opening date was shifted to 15 May.
The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples were opened on 26 April, while that of Shri Kedarnath opened on 29 April.
However, due to the lockdown restrictions, the Chardham Yatra has not been opened for devotees.
