Work on transferring forest land in the Uttarakhand’s Char Dham all-weather road project aimed at providing year-round connectivity to the four holy shrines of Shri Kedarnath, Shri Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri has been 87 per cent completed, Jagran has reported.

State Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh informed that out of the 53 approved projects for the all-weather road, work on 28 projects is going on in full swing while tender process has been completed for seven others. He also said that 27 cases of land transfer have been disposed but three to four cases still remain pending.

The state’s Public Works Department (PWD), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Border Roads Organisation are involved in the construction of roads under the project.

The all-weather road project is being monitored by the centre and the state government in wake of the concerns about the impact of the project on the environment.

As per the report, secretary of Prime Minister Office Arun Goyal had reviewed the progress of the project last week.

The economically and strategically important project was announced in 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve the connectivity to four holy Hindu shrines in the state.
