Uttarakhand: Work Starts On Rs 18,000 Crore Road Network Project Connecting Areas Along China Border

Work has begun on the Rs 18,000 crore project to set up a road network to the areas along the China border in Uttarakhand, Amar Ujala has reported.
Director General of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Lt Gen Harpal Singh met with Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat to discuss the progress of the project.
According to the report, Rawat said that the road project is extremely necessary to enhance the security in bordering areas of the state. He said that the state government will consider BRO’s demand to provide 20-acre land in Haridwar for the project headquarter.
The roads which are being built under the project include Baijnath-Tharali-Karnprayag road, Ascot-Dharchula-Malpa road, Kapkot-Munsyari road, Seraghat-Jauljibi road, Mana-Moosapani-Mana Pass road and Joshimath-Malari road.
The roads are not only strategically important for the army but will also provide much-needed connectivity to the villages along the Indo-China border in the state.
