Vegetarian, Non-Drinker, Non-Smoker? It Will Be Easier For Your Kids To Get Nursery Admission In Delhi Schools

Some private schools in Delhi have come up with new criteria for nursery admissions, where-in they give points to children whose parents are are vegetarian, non-alcoholic, freelancers, have done original research among others, reports The New Indian Express.
According to the report, the criteria set up by these schools are in clear violation of the Delhi government’s guidelines of nursery admissions. Apart from mandatory reservation of 25 per cent of seats for students of economically weaker sections (EWS) and disadvantaged groups, private schools can admit other students according to a set of criteria.
However various schools are allocating points on the disallowed parameters, thereby flouting DoE’s guidelines. Sumit Vohra, founder of an online forum for parent community told that a high court order bans schools from even screening parents occupation, PAN, income and other details.
He added that a complaint has been sent by him to the DoE against schools that make Aadhaar compulsory in violation of the Supreme Court’s order.
