Visiting The Taj Mahal? Entry To The Main Mausoleum Will Now Cost Rs 200

From Monday (10 December), visitors who wish to enter the main mausoleum of the Taj Mahal will have to purchase an extra ticket that will cost Rs 200.
This decision was announced by Chief Archaeologist of Archaeological Survey of India Vasant Swarnakar who said that Indian citizens will have to pay Rs 250 and visitors from abroad will have to shell out Rs 1,300.
The normal ticket worth Rs 50 will not provide access to the main mausoleum. One will be able to see the monument from outside, including the river front and back at Yamuna, but not the main structure inside, Economic Times reported.
Besides this, tourists from SAARC nations will have to pay Rs 740, as opposed to Rs 540. There has been a new ticketing system that has been installed to avoid the queuing during peak hours.
This news comes after the emergence of a new tourist attraction on the block - the Statue of Unity. The price to visit the statue’s viewing gallery is Rs 380.
