Major General G D Bakshi on board Vistara

Premium Indian Airliner Vistara on Sunday (21 April) deleted a tweet it had posted on Friday (19 April) expressing delight over having the honour to fly Major General G D Bakshi.

Vistara’s now deleted tweet honouring Major General G D Bakshi

In the tweet which featured a picture of Major General Bakshi along with two air-hostesses, Vistara said that it was honoured to have the General on board and thanked him for his service to the nation.

Major General G D Bakshi is a very decorated retired army officer who was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for his exemplary role in the Kargil war. He was also awarded the Sena Medal for counter-terrorism efforts.

Such a gesture by Vistara though became unpalatable for some so-called Indian ‘liberals’ and journalists who condemned the tweet and even went to the extent to vow that they would never fly the airline again, reported OpIndia.

Some of the individuals who were aggrieved by the tweet were controversial journalists Rohini Singh and Rifat Jawaid.

While the overwhelming majority of social media users were praising the airline for its gesture, it appeared to have buckled under the pressure exerted by the aforementioned forces and deleted the tweet.

This has not been taken kindly by many social media users who are now expressing their anger against the airline for its behaviour.
