‘Vivekanand’ To Play ‘Narendra’: Biopic On PM Modi Being Planned; Will Feature Son Of Suresh Oberoi In The Lead

Actor Vivek Oberoi is all ready to play Narendra Modi in his upcoming film, PM Narendra Modi, a biopic on the Indian Prime Minister. The film will be directed by Omung Kumar, who has directed the National Award winning film Mary Kom, and Sarabjit and Bhoomi, reports Indian Express.

Kumar has been working on this biopic for three years now. Initially reported to be played by veteran actor Paresh Rawal, it was finally revealed to be Vivek Oberoi by the popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The film’s first poster is to be launched by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 7 January in 23 languages. The event will be held at the Garware Club House in South Mumbai. Along with Vivek’s look, the release date is also expected to be announced.

The source added that all the permissions of the film were acquired recently and that Vivek had been working on workshops to carry off the style and distinct looks of Modi. A large part of the film will be shot in Gujarat, he says.

The film, said to chronicle Modi’s rise from a tea-seller to the Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy, is expected to release before the 2019 elections itself.

Apart from this, there are other political biopics like The Accidental Prime Minister based on former PM Dr Manmohan Singh and Thackeray, based on the life of Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray. Down south, there is NTR, a film on the celebrated actor and three-time Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, Yatra, a biopic on the two-time Chief Minister Dr YSR Reddy and an announced biopic on Jayalalithaa, former CM of Tamil Nadu, titled Iron Lady.
